Framed is a totally independent, self-funded passion project that I had been dying to make for years. The idea first came to me at a film festival, during a block of short films that ran the entire genre gamut. We watched everything from the bleakest tragedies to the lightest comedies, and whenever a new film started, you didn’t know what it was going to be. I started to imagine the exact kind of short that I would love to see at a festival — a hyper-serious drama that slowly reveals itself to be a ridiculous comedy, designed specifically to play for a live audience.
